The prophet’s widow didn’t have much, but she had her two sons—temporarily. Somewhere along the way her husband ran up a bill. Since she didn’t have any money, the creditor was coming to sell her sons as slaves. She appealed to Elisha for help.
Elisha didn’t open his wallet and hand her money. Instead, he asked, “What do you have?”
“Nothing except a small amount of oil.”
Then Elisha gave her some strange instructions: “Borrow all the jars and vessels you can from your friends and neighbors. Shut yourself in your house with your boys and fill the jars with oil. Sell the oil and pay the debt.”
She did. She trusted. She got a miracle.
Are you in trouble? Do you have a need? When we look at our needs with eyes of faith, God supplies the miracle.
If the Lord is our Shepherd, we shall not be in want. So what do you have?
If you are charged with feeding 5000 hungry men, what do you have?
So what do you have?
2 Kings 4
